The Executive Office of Region Uppsala is part of Region Uppsala, one of the largest employers in Uppsala County. The office is led by the Regional Director and consists of approximately one thousand employees. With a steering, supporting, and coordinating role, the Executive Office is tasked with supporting the political leadership and administrations to ensure that political guidelines are implemented across the region's various operations. In this way, Region Uppsala can fulfill its role, both regionally and nationally.

Our Operations

Do you want to be part of establishing a new function within the Executive Office of Region Uppsala, tasked with serving as the region's central expert function and driving force for responsible and value-creating use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)? The mission is to coordinate, develop, adapt, quality-assure, and manage AI systems in close collaboration with the region's operations. The AI Center shall act as an advisory and supportive body throughout the entire lifecycle of AI systems – from identifying needs to sustainable management – and ensure that AI initiatives support the region's digitalization goals, comply with current legislation such as the AI Act, and meet operational needs in an ethical and sustainable manner.

Your Role

As a Data Engineer, you are responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure required to collect, store, process, and make data available for AI systems. You focus on creating efficient and scalable data flows and pipelines that ensure analytical and data needs are met. With support from other roles, you are also responsible for implementing mechanisms for data validation and data quality. You manage access controls and ensure that data is handled in accordance with regulations governing operations, based on the AI Center's service catalog.

Your Qualifications

Requirements:

University or college education in IT, systems science, statistics, mathematics, or work experience that the employer deems relevant.
At least 2 years of experience working as a Data Engineer or Data Analyst.

Meritorious:

Experience working with Kubernetes (k8s), container architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience working in systems that make data available for AI usage.
Experience in system development that makes Generative AI available to users.
